The symbol of the artichoke has great meaning for the Wrights in teaching and writing. Working with families, we see that frequently only the outer edges are exposed, which can be prickly and sometimes bitter to the taste. But, as you expose the artichoke and people to warmth, caring, and time, gradually the leaves begin to open and expose the real treasure–the heart.
The artichoke also became a teaching lesson when Judy, as a young military mother, moved her family into military housing in California to find a surprising collection of artichokes planted in their yard. Knowing it takes two years for the vegetable to grow, Judy realized the original gardener never saw the fruits of their labor, but planted the artichokes anyway. Judy was reminded by this experience that many times in life our actions toward others are felt by people we will never meet, but we plant the seeds of kindness anyway.

Judy is a Pet Grief Coach who assists those animal lovers who are mourning the loss of a best friend and furry companion. Many people have a hard time moving through their grief & discovering more healthy ways to cope. After retiring from the Air Force, Dwain took over the house and home so Judy could write. This has been a great partnership for over 50 years. Dwain handles the product testing and manages the finances for Animal Human Connection. He also schedules the video reviews and social media blasts for people in the pet industry. Both he and Judy have gone through Hospice training. He is the wind beneath the wings of the whole family.

Presently we have two online courses almost ready to go. These will be “evergreen” meaning that they will not have to be updated but will provide passive income and information for some time.
